We’re putting an unfinished wood floor down, is staining, then applying varnish the next steps in this proces?
This is a edge connecting floor throughout the house so it must all be the same color or stain. What would be a good light stain to use that would hold up? Thanks for all input.
You don’t have to stain and whatever you choose do sample with an offcut. Oil-based varnishes will darken the floor slightly. My favourite varnish is Sadolin PV67 putting down a UV filter coat first to protect the wood from fading, particularly where light comes in through the window etc.This varnish is two pack catalitic type – you have two inactive liquids which you mix together and then you have to work fast with it. Very strong, need full ventilation, but it is the best. You can also oil an unfinished floor. Good luck
