Laminate Wood Flooring advice (Costco vs Ikea)?

I want to lay laminate Wood Flooring in my house but I don’t have a lot to spend. Plus its a starter home so I don’t want to spend a lot of money on a home that I’m not going to stay in for a long time.

I’ve been looking at Costco and Ikea. Costco has sales sometimes and I’ve heard their flooring gets down to $1.50 per sqr foot with padding. I also just looked up Ikea flooring online and it has some for $1.15 per sqr foot. Although online Ikea looks cheap…but I don’t know if they’ll look better when they’re laid down.

Does anyone have experience with Costco or Ikea?

Also does anyone know of any other good deals? I don’t want anything that will look cheap but on the other hand I don’t want to spend a whole lot on this home since it’s a starter home.

I don’t have any experience with Costco, but the Ikea flooring looks just as cheap in person, I was just at Ikea 2 weeks ago & took (a mental) note of that. I would do a lot more research if you are looking into wood flooring cheap. We have laminate flooring that we got from a mom & pop supplier, they got it cheap because it was from home depot, and the shade of the flooring was off from the shade of the floor sample, so home depot sold it cheap to the supplier, and we got it at $1.55 sq foot. You won’t find that kind of deal at the larger chain stores, but a lot of the smaller stores have closeouts and good sales. Don’t be afraid to walk into a store and say ‘I want this shade or similar, but I can only spend x amount…’ With the non-chain suppliers, they have more room to adjust the price. I’m not saying you’ll get a $3 a sq foot floor for $1, but they might come down a couple of cents if it means they sell the floor & get their commision.
